Description
Fifteenth is South Korea with a kumiho
A kumiho (gumiho) is a creature that appears in the tales and legends of Korea. Deriving from ancient Chinese myths and folklores, a fox that lives a thousand years turns into a kumiho, like its Japanese (kitsune) and Chinese (huli jing) counterparts. It can freely transform, among other things, into a beautiful woman often set out to seduce boys. ~wikipedia
A kumiho is essentially the Korean version of the nine tailed fox. However there is one big difference. The kitsune is most often portrayed as a trickster while the huli jing is most often depicted as a benevolent spirit. The kumiho, on the other hand, is always depicted as a viscous, man eating monster. All three are said to have mystical abilities.
HEADCANON
It started when a man from a rural village came into Seoul to try to convince the government to send help to his village. He claimed that a fox-like monster would attack, kill, and eat anyone and anything that left the village and didn't stay on the main path. After being denounced as crazy, and denied any form of help someone approached him. Korea, on the other hand was bored and felt like he needed to do something exciting or risk becoming as cranky ans stuffy as China. So, when a "crazy" man came to Seoul jabbering about a fox monster he became curious. After hearing the story, He figured the man might be telling the truth, after all, it would be hypocritical of him not to believe in the mystical and "unnatural". In a moment of brilliance he decided to help the man and take care of the problem for the village. He sent the man back to his village to tell them while he went home to grab his "super mega cool" customized weapon made specially for taking on mystical creatures.
Upon arriving at the village, he went to the pond the locals said the most people had been killed at, figuring he would find the fox monster there. When he reached the pond there was nothing there. He was forced to wait several hours and almost fell asleep. The when evening came he heard a low growl. It was a kumiho with tendrils of pitch black energy seeping from it's mouth and between it's front toes. It charged and Korea leaped to his feet and managed to ready his weapon just as it pounced.
secondary headcanon: whenever South Korea gets especially bored he has to go out and find something exciting (and probably dangerous and stupid) to do out of fear that if he is too complacent he will end up like China.
NOTICE
My parents are letting me do a mural on my bedroom wall and I can't figure out what theme I want to use. I have several picked out, but I can't decide which one I want to use, so I'm putting it to a vote in order to help me decide. I ask that you please vote. Here is a link to the journal that has the options.
