Mythical Hetalia: Chinese Were-Tiger by snakeshine Mythical Hetalia: Chinese Were-Tiger by snakeshine
Happy Halloween!!!
this doubles as my entry to the Halloween contest in the group

This is part of my series of pictures focused on some of the lesser known mythical creatures from around the world paired with their personified country of origin from Hidekaz Himaruya's Hetalia.

Fourth: China and a were-tiger

"A type of Werewolf from India, Malaysia, Borneo, China and Japan. In Java, Indonesia the Were-Tiger is a person who possesses a miniature ‘sarong’ which is a small skirt. When they put this on, the ‘sarong’ grows larger and turns yellow and black. The person is then transformed into a tiger where he or she must find another victim to devour to release his or her soul.
In Malaysia the Were-Tiger consumes livestock especially chickens. If a man vomits feathers it is believed that he is a Were-Tiger and would be given an emetic."
description from…
The were-tiger is one you've probably heard of, but assumed it was a play off of werewolves. I included this one in these because not many realize it is a legitimate myth from Asia.
It is basically a human that becomes a human-tiger hybrid under certain circumstances.

China decided to take a midnight stroll through some of the nearby woods. While on this stroll he heard something snap behind him. When he turned around he came face to face with a were-tiger. Out of fear and surprise he backed up into a tree. As for the tiger, he was roaming what he believed to be empty woods when he came across an interesting scent. The tiger instincts immediately pegged the scent as friend. The human mind got the idea that maybe the owner of the scent could help him free himself from this curse. When he felt China's nation-aura he had his hope confirmed only for it to be dashed when China backed away from him. Still slightly hopeful that this not-quite-human would help him, the were-tiger moved in front of China and made eye contact. China, realizing that this beast was actually one of his citizens, felt his fear melt away...

I would like to see where someone could take this in a fanfic, If you would like to volunteer to write one be sure to say so in the comments and send me the link once your finished.

If you know of a lesser known mythical creature which you would like to see with a Hetalia character comment below

I will not draw mythical creatures with human faces
I will only draw canon characters
I consider the UK brothers to be canon
I will do repeats of characters I've previously drawn in this series
All Norse myths will be drawn with one of the Nordics if you want a specific Nordic with a creature say so in the comments
All Native American myths will be drawn with both America and Canada unless specified otherwise (I do not think of Native America as a canon character)
All of the creatures I am willing to draw are put onto a list in a randomizer and which ever one is chosen is the one I draw
Each one will come with one of my headcanons involving the character and the creature.
Feel free to use these pictures in AMVs
